First Element researches and evaluates products and ingredients from around the world, in order to source the high-quality items that you can trust. We continually update our product selection based on our internal research and our Product Selection Criteria.

There are an overwhelming number of companies and products claiming to be green. In order to sort through the amount of “greenwashing” and provide our customers with only the best products, we have created our Product Selection Criteria.

When evaluating a product that we are considering, we look at every aspect of the product’s lifecycle. We have broken down the stages of the product lifecycle into segments. Listed below are the segments used to evaluate each product to ensure that it is as eco-friendly as possible.

As a wholesaler, it is important that you understand and memorize the main and sub-points of this list. You should be able to accurately explain to your customers what we look for in a product. Make sure your customers know that we have done all the product research for them.

Personal Care Products

Most health and beauty products, which are used in direct contact with the customer’s body, contain high concentrations of synthetic chemicals. These chemicals can be absorbed by the skin or get washed down the drain and into our water system.  Since we are the manufacturer of our products, it allows us to continuously focus on quality, know that they are void of any synthetic chemicals and provide 100% safe products from natural and food grade ingredients.  Water quality and consistency is critical in the manufacture of cream based products. First Element only uses purified water to ensure that all Health and Beauty products will maintain their consistency and appearance over time.

Our product lines are made from all natural, organic, kosher, and/or food grade ingredients, and are free of sodium lauryl sulphates, parabens or petro chemicals. All our products are 100% biodegradable and handmade and hand poured in small batches. These products are of the highest quality and are safe for the entire family. Relax with peace of mind.

Canadian made, plant based, pH balanced in a range of 5.5 to 7, gentle, and responsible, all product lines have taken skin and body care to its purest optimal form, perfecting a complete collection of health and beauty care products that are effective, natural, and simple and will not strip the skin of its own moisture. Consumers are therefore able to avoid the synthetic chemicals, skin irritants, and sensitizers that are present in most off-the-shelf cosmetic products.

• Contain non-micronized forms of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as a natural sun block (Non-micronized means that these molecules are too large to enter into the body and will only sit on the skin’s surface, thus avoiding increased levels of estrogen in the body, which can occur from the use of certain sunscreens.)
• Are not tested on animals
• Are completely biodegradable and recycled, with all containers made from postconsumer polyethylene materials that will not deteriorate or leak estrogen
• Are made with plant extracts for colour and pigment

BABY AND CHILD CARE

A baby and child’s skin is soft and delicate. Extra care should be taken to ensure that chemical free products are used. Select products that are made with certified organic ingredients and are specially formulated to be very gentle.  Another environmental concern related to babies is the large amount of waste produced in the form of diapers and associated products. Whenever possible, use reusable products, such as cloth

Diapers and organic cotton wipes.

Did you know that baby oil you buy in the large distribution stores contains mineral oil?  Which is a petroleum by-product.

Tattoo Aftercare

The Tattoo Balm & Tattoo Salve is a 100% natural after care product for your fresh or old tattoo. This amazing start to finish tattoo after care product not only enhances and preserves the liveliness and boldness of ink. It also revitalizes and rejuvenates the skin, which will aid the brightness of an older tattoo. When applied to your skin, it will soften, nourish and moisturize the skin. Our Tattoo Salve and Tattoo Balm is the perfect product for your needs and will help aid in quicker healing times.

The First Element line of cleaning products has been formulated using pure and natural sources, while keeping quality and cleaning power in mind. These products are developed to clean with confidence while still being safe for use around all the surfaces of your home.

Many of the First Element Cleaning Line products were formulated using the natural SoapBerry as a base ingredient. The SoapBerry is a fruit that grows on the Soapberry tree. Many cultures around the world have used it for centuries as a natural cleaning agent. The SoapBerries contain naturally occurring saponins that provide effective cleaning power that is safe for you, your family and the environment.

This line is 100% biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and free of phosphates or synthetic fragrances.  Due to the low sudsing quality of the saponins, all of the OnlyGreen laundry products are safe for HE washers as well as regular machines.  The rich, dark color of our cleaning line reflects the natural brown color of the SoapBerry fruit, but leaves no residue on clothing or surfaces.
